Biography :

Born in 1906, Pierre Kissel attended secondary school in Lyon and Nancy before pursuing a medical career at the Faculty of Medicine in Nancy. He specialized in neurology under the influence of great masters such as Remy Collin and Lucien Cornil.
In 1936, he became a hospital doctor and a professor of medicine. In 1946, he created the neurology department in Nancy. He then held the chair of medical clinic B until his retirement in 1976.
Pierre Kissel produced nearly 500 publications, covering various fields such as histology, bacteriology and especially neurology. He is internationally recognized for his research on geno-neuro-dermatoses and neurocristopathies.
Officer of the Legion of Honor and corresponding member of the Academy of Medicine, he chaired the French Society of Neurology in 1975. He also received the Resistance Medal for his role during the Second World War.
Pierre Kissel died on August 26, 1978, leaving a lasting legacy in the field of neurology and a significant influence on the Faculty of Medicine of Nancy.
