The Samuel de Champlain Prize was created in 1997 by the France-Canada Institute to annually recognize two personalities, one Canadian, the other French, each having worked to highlight French history and culture in Canada, Canadian in France, and thus contributed to the dissemination of the values that define and unite these two countries.
