The Africa Star is a military medal, instituted by the United Kingdom and awarded for a minimum of one day of service in an operational zone of North Africa during the Second World War between June 10, 1940 and May 12, 1943.
Obverse:
Six-pointed star with the King George VI’s monogram ( GRI : Georgius Rex Imperator / George King and Emperor) , surmounted by the royal crown , and surrounded by the legend: THE AFRICA STAR .
Reverse:
Virgin without attribution.
Ribbon :
The light beige (desert sand) ribbon has a central red stripe representing the Army (ARMY) and two narrow stripes , the left dark blue one representing the Navy (NAVY) and the right pale blue one the Air Force (RAF).
