This decoration is awarded in recognition of the recipient’s operational service during World War II (1939-1945) between September 3, 1939 and June 4, 1944. The conditions of award depend on the branch of the military (Air Force, Navy, Army, etc.) in which the recipient served.
Obverse:
Six-pointed star with the monogram of King George VI in its center ( GRI : Georgius Rex Imperator / George King and Emperor) , surmounted by the royal crown , and surrounded by the legend: THE AIR CREW EUROPE STAR .
Reverse:
Virgin without attribution.
Ribbon :
The ribbon consists of a wide pale blue band , then two yellow and dark blue stripes on each side (representing the sky, enemy searchlights and the RAF respectively).
