The Burma Star is one of the 8 campaign stars of World War II. It is a British military decoration awarded to soldiers of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations (more rarely to foreigners) in recognition of the recipient’s operational service during the Burma Campaign between 11 December 1941 and 2 September 1945.
Obverse:
Six-pointed star with the monogram of King George VI in its center ( GRI : Georgius Rex Imperator / George King and Emperor) , surmounted by the royal crown , and surrounded by the legend: THE BURMA STAR .
Reverse:
Virgin without attribution.
Ribbon :
The center of the ribbon is red , bordered on either side by dark blue and orange bands , with dark blue edges . Red and blue represent the Commonwealth Forces and orange the sun.
