This British decoration is awarded to Commonwealth and foreign servicemen serving in British uniform in recognition of at least one day of service in Italy between 11 June 1943 and 8 May 1945 (the day the war in Europe ended).

Six-pointed star with the monogram of King George VI in its center ( GRI : Georgius Rex Imperator / George King and Emperor) , surmounted by the royal crown , and surrounded by the legend: THE ITALY STAR .

The ribbon is composed of equal width stripes of red , white , green , white and red representing the colours of Italy.
