History: Professor Albert Trillat, who died in April 1988, was a pioneer of orthopedic surgery in France, and more specifically of the knee. He widely disseminated his techniques and the results of his research to practitioners in Lyon, in France and also abroad. Holder of the chair of orthopedic surgical clinic at the Edouard Herriot Hospital and member of the Faculty of Medicine of Lyon, he widely promoted the “no touch technique” in France, which consists of eliminating contact between the hands and the surgical wound, particularly in knee surgery.
