VERMELIN Henri Eugene Charles Marie
Born: July 31, 1895 in Beaucourt (Territoire de Belfort)
Death: June 15, 1968 in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle)
Henri Vermelin is a gynecologist and obstetrician, professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Nancy.
He was an external hospital resident in 1910, an intern in 1913 and then after the First World War in 1920, head of clinic, agrégé in 1930, holder of the chair of obstetric clinic at the Faculty of Nancy from 1944 to 1961.
He was also director of the Nancy School of Midwives, director of the maternal protection station of the Social Hygiene Office of Meurthe-et-Moselle, member of the Permanent Council of Social Hygiene of the Ministry of Health and Regional Consultant of Obstetrics for the Nancy Health Region. He was also president of the Order of Midwives of Meurthe-et-Moselle until 1961 and president of the National Order of Midwives of France from 1950 to 1956.
He was elected national correspondent of the Academy of Medicine for the surgery division on June 20, 1961.
For his service during the First World War, he was awarded the Croix de Guerre and the Legion of Honour.
